I am commemorating Louis van West, who lived in the same building I live in now, and whose name I share.
Born on October 15th, 1934, Louis was the son of Lea Van West-Kat and Joseph van West, a diamond worker, and brother to Bloeme and Vogelina.
I like to think of him playing in the street outside and having happy times. I hope he would like the brightly coloured plaque I have made for him.
He was murdered on February 1st, 1943, aged 8. His mother and two sisters were murdered on the same day. His father was murdered a few weeks later.
